About the role:

As our Drainage Leading Hand, you'll be responsible for coordinating and supporting a dedicated drainage crew delivering a variety of stormwater infrastructure projects across the City of Busselton region, with support from an experienced Supervisor.

This is a practical, hands-on leadership role where you'll spend time both planning works and working on the ground alongside your team, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

No two days are the same. From major drainage upgrades and reconstruction works through to maintenance activities and emergency response, you'll play a key role in keeping our community moving and protected.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading, motivating and supporting a small, skilled drainage team.
• Planning and coordinating daily works, resources, plant and materials.
• Delivering drainage construction, reconstruction and maintenance projects safely and efficiently.
• Operating and supervising others operate civil construction plant and equipment.
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings and plans.
• Coordinating contractors and traffic management.
• Monitoring project progress, quality, budgets and timelines.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Strong knowledge of stormwater drainage construction and maintenance in a civil environment.
• Experience leading a crew and coordinating works.
• Advanced plant operation experience (including backhoe and loaders).
• Ability and willingness to undertake physical tasks alongside your crew.
• An understanding of and commitment to safe work practices.
• Time management skills and an understanding of costs and budgeting.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Pre-employment requirements:

• Current HR class driver’s licence 
• National Police Clearance not more than six months old
• White Card
• Proof of right to work in Australia
